Concert tonight to remember Ken Saro Wiwa

BY UNA SINNOTT
An evening of African and Irish music will take place in Galway tonight to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the execution of Ken Saro Wiwa.
The event, organised by Shell to Sea, will feature Merriam Dike, Nkululeko, Treasa Ní Ceannabháin, Cross Quarter, Deirdre Herbert, Roland Zuvamunhu, Ciarán Davies and other artists, along with readings of Mr Saro Wiwa's poetry.
Mr Saro Wiwa was one of nine Ogoni activists hanged by the Nigerian government in 1995 after voicing opposition to the environmental damage caused in the region by oil companies. Entrance to tonight's concert is € 5, with a discount available for the unwaged, and all proceeds will go to the Rossport 5 legal fund.
