A party of five including Caitlin Ni Sheighin, wife of prisoner Micheal O’ Sheighin and Jerry Cowley Independent TD for Mayo are travelling to Norway.
Now that the Norwegian government has changed to a red-green alliance which won 87 of the 169 seats in Parliament, the Norwegian Labour Party forms the government in coalition with the Socialist Left Party and the Center Party.The Norwegian government currently owns 70% of Statoil. The Corrib Gas field is being developed by a consortium of Shell, Statoil and Marathon. Although Shell has been the major partner with 45% ownership in the consortium, Statoil has 36.5% ownership, Marathon the remainder, of some 18%.The delegation on behalf of the Rossport Five are travelling to Norway in order to meet with amongst others:New government party energy representatives Norwegian Friends of the Earth Trade Union representatives.
