The families of the Rossport Five will speak at a public meeting being held in Galway next week.
The Galway Shell to Sea campaign will host the meeting, which will take place in the Sacre Coeur Hotel in Salthill from 8pm on Monday. Speakers at the event will include Bríd Ní Sheighin, daughter of Rossport Five prisoner Micheál Ó Seighin. Other family members of the Rossport Five will also attend. Dr Mark Garavan, a spokesperson for the five men, Sr Majella McCarron of Ogoni Solidarity Ireland, and Donncha O'Connell, a law lecturer at NUI, Galway, will also speak at the event.
The Shell to Sea campaign has called on Minister of State for Equality Frank Fahey, who was Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources in the early stages of the project, other TDs from Galway's two constituencies, and county and city councillors to attend the event along with members of the general public.
