Rossport Five stand firm in battle over Corrib pipeline

07/09/2005 - 13:31:02 Supporters of the so-called Rossport Five have insisted that the men will not be giving any ground in their ongoing stand-off with the Shell corporation. The five Co Mayo men have spent the last 10 weeks in prison for refusing to obey an injunction ordering them not to obstruct work on the Corrib gas pipeline. They believe the high-pressure structure poses an unacceptable risk to the population of north Co Mayo.Speaking after a routine court appearance by the five today, their supporters vowed to continue their campaign against the pipeline, despite the difficulties being faced by the jailed men and their families. They also said the men had no intention of giving an undertaking to obey the court injunction, a move that would end their long-running incarceration.
