The daughter of one of the men jailed for opposing the Shell gaspipe line tonight dismissed the company's latest statement as a PR stunt. The five Mayo men have been in Cloverhill prison for over 50 days after they refused to obey a High Court order to stop obstructing the construction of the pipeline for the Corribgas field on their lands.Bríd Ní Sheighin said Shell's announcement that it was considering its legal options would not free her father, Micheál, from jail.''To us, it just seems like a PR exercise. They're always talking about dialogue and how they're willing to talk and here they are again working out what their options are,'' she said.In the statement, Shell welcomed the talks held by Mayo County Councillors Henry Kenny and Paddy McGuinness with the five men in prison today. The company said it appreciated that the men would purge their contempt of court if it lifted the injunction against them.''While the legal impediments to the removal of the injunction remain, Shell is examining with its legal advisers what options, if any, are possible to overcome the current impasse,'' it said.
