Shell to Sea Protest at Dempsey's HQ

Shell to Sea Dublin will be holding a protest outside the head office of the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources at 29 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2 at 6pm, Thursday the 11th of August. The protest follows the decision by Minister Noel Dempsey to give hisconsent to the laying of offshore pipeline, despite Shell's illegalconstruction of pipeline onshore, through which the Shell led international consortium intends to bring raw, untreated gas. A spokesperson for Shell to Sea Dublin said: ''While Minister Dempsey has outlined the process of reviewing Shell's safety audit of the Corrib gas field project the reality is Shell's threat to withdraw from the project if the review finding is negative, along with the Minister's contention that he is bound by the project's development plan, suggests the review is alreadycompromised.''We intend to make it clear tomorrow that increasing numbers of Irish peopleare supportive of the stand taken by the Rossport Five in opposition to the pipeline and to the handover of our natural resources to multinational corporations without any appreciable benefit to the Irish people.''For further information please contact Justin Moran at 086 3667694 or see www.shelltosea.com for further details.ENDS
