New planning application for Corrib gas terminal

New planning application for Corrib gas terminal
April 30, 2001
Enterprise Energy Ireland is to submit a new planning application to Mayo County Council for its proposed gas terminal at Bellanaboy Bridge, Co Mayo.
EEI, together with its co-venturers, Statoil Exploration Ireland and Marathon Petroleum, took this decision after a technical re-evaluation of the terminal following an extensive public consultation process and talks with Mayo County Council.
The new planning application includes a number of key factors including a new location for the terminal on the site, which will have less of a visual impact and will also involve moving less peat on the site during construction. A revised Environmental Impact Statement will include a new peat strategy and contains more information on the impact of the site on water and air.
In a statement today, EEI said that MV Cullinan has been awarded the contract for the gas terminal. The Dublin-based company has extensive experience in building design.
