Drilling at Mayo estuary

In response to letter from Bob Wilson (http://www.corribsos.com/index.php?id=1728)

Madam, - Bob Wilson (April 1st) expressed his disgust that a foreshore licence had been awarded to the Corrib Gas Project for geotechnical ground investigations in Sruwaddacon Bay, Co Mayo, without, as he claimed, community consultation or regard for internationally recognised wildlife habitats.
However, a public notice of the application for this aforesaid foreshore licence appeared in the Legal Notices section of your newspaper on the August 1st, 2007.
This invited any person who wished to make an objection or representation to do so and several members of the public subsequently did.
The relevant statutory authorities were widely consulted and discharged their duties diligently with due regard for the environment.
- Yours, etc,
GERRY COSTELLO, Project Execution Manager, Shell E&P Ireland, Leeson Street Lower, Dublin 2.
