SHELL TO SEA PRESS RELEASE 16/10/2007 - Meeting GovernmentOn Wednesday 17th October members of the affected Erris community in North Mayo are to meet Communications, Energy & Natural Resources Minister Eamon Ryan in Leinster House. This will be the first such interaction in the history of the eight-year-long Corrib gas campaign.The task of the five-strong delegation will be to inform the department of the real issues central to the ongoing Corrib dispute, as experienced by the local community, and the meeting represents long-overdue recognition of the need for community consent as part of any major development.The session is expected to be productive and informative, and will be the first of several meetings with various Government departments sought by Erris ShellToSea since last summer.
