SHELL E&P Ireland is to axe approximately 10 jobs at its gas processing terminal in north Mayo.
The company today (Thursday) blamed “challenging market conditions” for the planned cuts which will take effect early in the new year.
After briefing employees at its refinery in Bellanaboy, near Belmullet, the company issued a statement saying which noted a good first year for operations.
However, the statement warned: “Market conditions remain challenging with Irish gas prices reflecting lower oil and gas price conditions globally.”
About 180 workers are currently employed in Shell's gas operations throughout Ireland.
