ABERDEEN, UK – Shell has awarded Bibby Offshore two inspection contracts this year at the Corrib gas facilities off western Ireland.
During a 40-day campaign, completed in June, the construction support vessel Olympic Ares, equipped with Quantum work class and SeaEye Cougar inspection class ROVs, performed survey/inspection of an 83-km (52-mi) long, 20-in. gas pipeline; internal wellhead and manifold fault diagnostics; and structural inspection and cathodic protection measurements.
Shell then awarded Bibby a second contract for Corrib which is set for completion by the end of this year. It also involves deployment of Olympic Ares and two Quantum work class ROVs.
The three-week campaign calls for installation of an electrical distribution unit and replacement control jumpers, and inspection, repair, and maintenance services in water depths of 400 m (1,312 ft).
