Corrib job losses at Bellanaboy

SHELL E&P Ireland has announced that due to ‘challenging’ market conditions globally, ten jobs will be cut at its Corrib Gas refinery in north west Mayo. Employees were advised of the jobs losses, due to be implemented during 2017, at the Bellanaboy plant on Thursday last.

Security firm out of gas after Corrib

Shell to axe 10 jobs in Mayo

SHELL E&P Ireland is to axe approximately 10 jobs at its gas processing terminal in north Mayo.

The company today (Thursday) blamed “challenging market conditions” for the planned cuts which will take effect early in the new year.

After briefing employees at its refinery in Bellanaboy, near Belmullet, the company issued a statement saying which noted a good first year for operations.

However, the statement warned: “Market conditions remain challenging with Irish gas prices reflecting lower oil and gas price conditions globally.”

Sales of €1.2m a day now flowing through Corrib gas pipeline

THE Corrib Partners are generating sales of more than €1.2m a day from the gas flowing from the Corrib gas field off the Co Mayo coast.

Production started on the field at the end of last year and for the first nine months of this year the Corrib Partners, including Shell Ireland, recorded estimated revenues of $360m (€335m) from the production of gas from the field.

This follows a new report by one of the Corrib partners, Canadian-based Vermilion showing that it has generated sales of $66.42m (€61.5m) for the first nine months of production.

Corrib gas sales surpass €335m

Sales of more than €1.2m a day are being generated from gas flowing from the Corrib field off the Mayo coast, new figures show.

Production started on the field at the end of last year and for the first nine months of this year, the Corrib partners — including Shell, Statoil, and Canadian company Vermilion Energy — recorded estimated revenues of $360m (€335m) from the production of gas from the field.

Vermilion Energy Inc. Announces Results for the Three and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2016

Irish production averaged 59 mmcf/d (9,879 boe/d) net to Vermilion during Q3 2016, representing an increase of 25% versus the prior quarter.  Production results continued to benefit from better than expected well deliverability and minimal downtime.  Following the conclusion of a successful offshore work campaign that included laying a flowline to the P2 well, all six wells are now available for production.

Putrid smelling globules may be linked to pollution at sea, says Coastwatch Europe

Foul smelling globules resembling balls of fat on the north Mayo coast may be linked to a pollution incident at sea, says Coastwatch Europe.

The globules have washed up on the shoreline near Elly Bay and on Cross beach, west of Binghamstown on the Mullet peninsula in Erris, in recent weeks.

Award for deadly Corrib Gas Project

t does seem odd that The Corrib Onshore Gas Pipeline has been voted Engineering Project of the Year at this years Engineers Ireland Awards.

I say this bearing in mind the news just months ago that two of the construction firms involved in the project face trial over a workplace death that occurred. See the Irish Times report below.
