(Johnston 2008)

A 2008 study of forty five international fiscal systems [1] by petroleum consultant Daniel Johnston shows that Ireland has the lowest returns from its gas and oil of all the countries studied. Ireland’s returns are half of US and UK and less that one third of Norway.

Rape Tape – far from harmless banter

By:
Ciara Moynihan - Mayo News

The ‘Rape Tape’ scandal is not going away. Or at least, it should not go away. Not until the gardaí caught joking about raping a woman in their custody are dealt with in a satisfactory manner.
Why? The answer to that question lies in a small article about a very big topic that was carried on the bottom of Page 6 of The Irish Times on Tuesday, April 5 – the day the newspaper first covered the Rape Tape story (on Page 3).

Keith Bourke - Western People

MORE than 100 people protested outside Belmullet Garda Station last Saturday where there were calls for an independent inquiry into the policing of the Corrib gas project.

There were also demands for the suspension of the garda officers involved in the ‘rape tape’ controversy, which is the subject of an investigation by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
